Joan Sebastian Zamora
Joan Sebastian Zamora began dancing at the age of 8 in his hometown of Cali, Colombia at INCOLBALLET, the Colombian Institute of Classical Ballet, then studied at the Rock School for Dance Education, and graduated from the Royal Ballet School in 2013. Joan has danced with the English National Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet, and the Colombian Company of Ballet (INCOLBALLET). Joan is currently performing with the Georgia Ballet in Marietta, GA, where he also enjoys opportunities to guest with other organizations.
His experience as a professional dancer includes works by numerous choreographers; Jiří Bubeníček, Maurice Bejart, John Neumeir, Frederic Ashton, Arkam Khan, Rusell Maliphant, Wayne eagling, Christopher Wheeldon, Yuri Possokov, Krzysztof Pastor, and Alexander Ekman, among others.
Joan was featured in the ballet documentary First Position, directed by Bess Kargman. Other achievements include El Premio a la Caleñidad, granted by the mayor of the municipality of Santiago de Cali in 2014, and a Silver Medal at Youth America Grand Prix 2010. He was a finalist in the English National Ballet Emerging Dancer competition in 2013, and at the the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, MI in 2010. Joan's additional training includes the American Ballet Theatre summer intensive on full scholarship.
